Mechanical/ Research & Development Engineer

Research & Development Engineer: Mechanical Division
Salary Range: $65,000 to $80,000. Quarterly Bonus and Generous 401K included

As a Mechanical Research & Development Engineer, you will play a vital role in conducting general laboratory testing and assisting the Research & Development Engineer in developing new products, testing the quality of new designs and products, and enhancing existing designs and products.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant discipline (Mechanical or Material Science Engineering) is preferred.

1-2 years of relevant experience is a plus.

Experience in AutoCAD, FEA, 3D Modeling, and Drafting is preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent composition, documentation, and presentation skills with self-directed development goals.

Mechanical and mathematical aptitude with the ability to apply analytical solutions to real-world situations.

Knowledge of manufacturing processes and application of mining and ground control products.

Understanding of mechanical engineering and product design/application.

Strong technical and functional acumen, with the ability to gather information to make confident technical decisions.

Effective written and oral communication skills, with representative leadership ability.

Capable of working on multiple projects and maintaining a high level of organization.

Works well in groups and demonstrates a team player mentality.

Perseverance and ability to learn on the fly in a fast-paced environment.

Dependability to consistently be at work on time, with the ability to work a flexible schedule that may include domestic and/or international travel (approximately 25%) as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform engineering assignments in a timely manner, under the guidance of more senior engineers.

Apply engineering methods for organized and understandable execution of calculations.

Assist with field and analytical evaluations of designs.

Create and revise engineering and manufacturing drawings, specifications, and material requirements.

Write or assist with the generation of technical communications, including formal design reports, technical letters, and customer deliverables.

Participate in vendor and customer meetings and presentations.

Make field trips and go underground in mines or tunnels to observe products in operation, review their application parameters, recognize problems, and recommend corrective action if appropriate.

Review and resolve deviation requests for drawing revisions to aid the manufacturing process.

Review customer orders to determine and schedule new engineering to support them.

Approve current engineering records before they are released to manufacturing for production.

Assist in quality audits and testing of products as assigned.

Edit and approve content for technical publications.

Learn and apply engineering software tools and systems.
