Our children's hospital in San Francisco is well-known for its exceptional care for critically ill infants. As a level IV regional NICU, we provide comprehensive and advanced treatment options to newborns, attracting patients from across the region.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) who will play a pivotal role in delivering expert medical care to critically ill infants in our cutting-edge NICU. This position necessitates exceptional clinical expertise, critical thinking abilities, and effective collaboration with a diverse team of healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive assessments of infants, including gathering medical histories, conducting physical examinations, and carrying out diagnostic evaluations.
- Create and implement personalized treatment plans in collaboration with the medical team.
- Conduct various medical procedures, such as:
- Performing intubation and extubation
- Placing and managing central lines
- Catheterizing umbilical arteries and veins
- Administering and interpreting diagnostic tests (e.g., ABGs, blood gases)
- Administering medications and blood products
- Monitor infants' progress and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
- Provide education and support to families regarding their infants' conditions and care.
- Participate in rounds, conferences, and other educational activities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and research endeavors.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master's Degree in Nursing with a specialization in Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.
- Certification: NNP-BC certification is required.
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of recent experience as a Neonate NP in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit OR recent completion of a Neonatal ICU Fellowship.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Active and current RN and NP licenses in California.
- Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency.
- California driver's license (CDL) may be required for the position.
- Current AHA BLS and NRP certifications.
- DEA license required within 90 days of employment.
- CMS Medicare and Medicaid enrollment required.
- Other:
- Demonstrated strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.
- Capability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced and demanding environment.

Schedule:
- Full-time position with 12-hour shifts
- Shifts available: Days, evenings, nights, rotating, weekends, holidays
Note: Candidates with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1.
