Non-Profit Executive Director

We are currently seeking an Executive Director for a membership-based organization that also supports an evolving Architecture Foundation. This visionary leader will guide the team through a period of growth, leveraging the dedication and enthusiasm of our committed staff and Board of Directors. This role is vital in achieving exceptional results across all aspects of the organization, with a focus on empowering staff, engaging the Board, effective organizational management, cultivating and stewarding donors, and implementing a sustainable and ambitious vision for success.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with the Board to establish and execute a clear organizational vision.
  • Defining and implementing the necessary strategies to achieve our goals and objectives.
  • Ensuring that all programs, events, education, and advocacy efforts align closely with our mission and enhance member value.

Partnership with the Board:

  • Working closely with the Board to fulfill our organization's mission, acting as the primary liaison for our staff.
  • Collaborating with the Board President to set meeting agendas, ensuring effective communication on program, development, financial, and strategic matters.
  • Managing all administrative aspects of Board meetings.
  • Facilitating regular interactions between the Board and Staff to enhance their knowledge of our programs and key personnel.

Communications and External Relations:

· Advocating for our organization's values, mission, culture, and promoting excellence in design.

  • Developing relationships with key stakeholders, including national/state, community, and business leaders, as well as funders.
  • Enhancing our organization's profile and increasing brand recognition.
  • Overseeing all internal and external communications, including advocacy activities.
  • Ensuring quality and consistency in our visual and print materials, newsletters, and social media presence.

General Management:

  • Recruiting, leading, developing, and motivating a highly qualified staff to achieve our program goals.
  • Ensuring the implementation of effective systems for day-to-day operations, including program management, development, and administration.
  • Overseeing the planning and execution of major events.

Program, Event and Committee Oversight:

  • Ensuring that our programs, events, and committees align with our mission and strategic goals.
  • Demonstrating a deep understanding of community-related issues and promoting best practices.
  • Personally engaging in program delivery, including volunteer recruitment, retention, and leadership development.
  • Working to involve and engage emerging design professionals and local schools of architecture in our activities and programs.

Fundraising and Financial Management:

  • Leading fundraising efforts in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
  • Demonstrating a clear understanding and ability to secure resources for our financial sustainability.
  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising plan.
  • Managing the budget and ensuring effective stewardship of our financial resources.
  • Establishing and maintaining appropriate financial controls and systems.
  • Ensuring timely preparation and filing of all financial and tax-related documents.

Operations Management:

  • Managing our organization's physical space, infrastructure, and assets in partnership with the Associate Director.
  • Overseeing human resources, including the development and administration of personnel policies, benefits management, employment practices, and addressing individual personnel matters.
  • Ensuring sound risk management policies and practices, including compliance with non-profit laws and appropriate insurance coverage.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for our mission.
  • Energetic, goal-oriented team player with excellent communication skills (both oral and written) and strong relationship-building abilities.
  • Demonstrated interest in supporting volunteers and a strong commitment to advancing art and design.
  • 10+ years of relevant management experience, including direct staff supervision, financial reporting/oversight, and advocacy activities.
  • Self-starter, detail-oriented, successful at managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Enjoys working in a collaborative team environment and embraces technology.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in an Executive Director or related role.
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding fundraising goals.
