Non-Profit Executive Director

We are currently seeking an Executive Director for a non-profit organization. As the dynamic leader of this organization, you will guide the team through a period of growth, harnessing the dedication and commitment of the staff and Board of Directors. Your role will be integral in achieving exceptional results across all aspects of the organization, with a focus on empowering the staff, engaging the Board, effective organization management, donor cultivation and stewardship, and the implementation of a sustainable and ambitious vision for success.

The key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Working alongside the Board to establish and execute a clear vision for the organization.
  • Articulating goals and objectives and implementing the necessary strategies to achieve the vision.
  • Ensuring that all programs are aligned with the organization's vision and mission and contribute to strategic goals.

Board Partnership:

  • Collaborating with the Board to fulfill the organization's mission and serving as the primary point of contact for the staff.
  • Working with the Board President to set meeting agendas and ensuring timely communication on program, development, financial, and strategic matters.
  • Taking charge of all administrative aspects of Board meetings.
  • Facilitating regular interactions between the Board and Staff to enhance knowledge of the organization's programs and key staff.

Communication and External Relations:

  • Building relationships with key stakeholders, including national/state, community, and business leaders, funders, etc.
  • Enhancing the organization's profile and brand recognition.
  • Overseeing internal and external communications, including lobbying efforts.
  • Managing the organization's social media presence.

General Management:

  • Recruiting, leading, developing, and motivating a skilled staff to achieve program goals.
  • Ensuring the presence of effective systems that facilitate day-to-day operations, such as program management, development, and administration.
  • Managing the planning and execution of major events.

Program Oversight:

  • Ensuring that programs align with the organization's mission and strategic goals.
  • Demonstrating extensive knowledge of community-related issues and promoting best practices.
  • Actively recruiting volunteers and personally participating in program delivery, including recruitment, retention, and leadership development.

Fundraising and Financial Management:

  • Leading fundraising efforts in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
  • Demonstrating a clear understanding and ability to secure resources for financial sustainability.
  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive and ongoing fundraising plan.
  • Managing the budget and ensuring proper stewardship of financial resources.
  • Establishing appropriate financial controls and systems.
  • Ensuring timely preparation and submission of financial and tax-related documents.

Operations Management:

  • Partnering with the Associate Director to manage the organization's physical space, infrastructure, and assets.
  • Providing guidance on human resource matters, including personnel policies, benefits management, employment practices, and individual personnel issues.
  • Implementing sound risk management policies and practices, including compliance with laws and obtaining necessary insurance coverage.


  • A commitment to the organization's mission.
  • An energetic and goal-oriented team player with excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to build relationships effectively.
  • A demonstrated interest in supporting volunteers and a strong dedication to advancing art and design.
  • Over 10 years of relevant management experience, including direct staff supervision, financial reporting/oversight, and lobbying activities.
  • A self-starter with attention to detail and a proven track record of managing multiple deadlines.
  • An individual who enjoys working within a close-knit team environment and embraces technology.
  • A Bachelor's Degree.
  • At least 5 years of experience in an Executive Director or similar role.
  • Past experience in meeting and exceeding fundraising goals.
