POSITION SUMMARY:

As the Nurse Manager of the Emergency Department, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the operations of two Emergency departments. You will be accountable for implementing strategies and activities that promote high-quality, safe, and exceptional patient care. Creating a conducive environment for staff development, empowerment, and collaboration will be a key focus. Allocating resources efficiently and effectively to deliver compassionate nursing care will also be part of your role. You will play a pivotal role in coordinating care across different departments, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and communication. Additionally, recruiting, selecting, and retaining qualified personnel will be your responsibility, including providing proper orientation, education, and professional development opportunities. You will also supervise and oversee the Emergency Department, Hospital Clinical Leaders, and Medic 55 ALS Program.

- Requirements:
- - Graduate from an accredited Registered Professional Nurse Program, with a Master's degree in Nursing or a related field.
- - Current NYS license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse.
- - Professional certifications, including BLS, ACLS, PALS (through the RQI system during clinical orientation), Basic Coronary Care within 6 months of hire, CPI certification within 90 days of hire, and TNCC required within 18 months of hire. Certified Emergency Nursing certification within one year is preferred.
- - Minimum of 3-4 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least 18 months of experience in an Emergency Department. 1 year of management/leadership experience is preferred.
- - Skills required for the role include moderate sedation competency within six months of hire, effective interpersonal communication, knowledge of management systems and processes, ability to establish work relationships and lead others, analytical skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure, knowledge of The Joint Commission requirements, and computer literacy (word processing and spreadsheets). Experience with Microsoft Office products and Meditech is preferred.
