POSITION SUMMARY:
-
The Nurse Manager is responsible for implementing strategies and activities aimed at achieving and supporting exceptional quality, patient safety, and a positive patient/family experience. The Nurse Manager actively promotes staff development, staff empowerment, collegial relationships, and best practices in nursing care. They allocate resources to ensure efficient, effective, compassionate, and fiscally responsible nursing care. The Nurse Manager also facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration and communication to ensure coordinated care across departments. They are involved in recruiting, selecting, and retaining personnel, as well as providing orientation, education, and professional development opportunities. The Nurse Manager oversees the Emergency Department, Hospital Clinical Leaders, and the Medic 55 ALS Program.

- Graduate of an accredited Registered Professional Nurse Program, with a Masters in Nursing or a related field.
- LICENSE:

- Current NYS license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse.
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:-

Minimum:

Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (through the RQI system during clinical orientation), Basic Coronary Care (within 6 months of hire), CPI (within 90 days of hire), TNCC (within 18 months of hire).

- Certified Emergency Nursing certification within one year.
WORK EXPERIENCE:

Minimum:
-
3-4 years of experience as an RN.
-
At least 18 months of RN experience in an Emergency Department.

1 year of management/leadership experience.

SKILLS:

Minimum:
-
Competency in moderate sedation within six months of hire.
-
Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with staff, patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members.

Knowledge of management systems and processes.
-
Ability to establish effective work relationships and lead others towards organizational objectives.
-
Analytical skills to assess departmental needs, develop and implement interventions, and evaluate their effectiveness.
-
Ability to manage projects, work under pressure, meet deadlines, prioritize effectively, and foster teamwork through role modeling.
-
Familiarity with The Joint Commission requirements.
-
Computer literacy, including word processing and spreadsheets.

Preferred:

Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Meditech.
