Emergency Room Nursing Supervisor
Location: Las Vegas, NV, USA
Annual Salary range: $110,000 - $140,000, plus bonus, complete benefits package, and signing bonus
Summary of the role: The Emergency Room Nursing Supervisor, reporting to the Director of Nursing, manages the assigned unit on a 24-hour basis, ensuring the highest level of patient care. Responsibilities include overseeing the Emergency Room program, providing direct patient care, and maintaining smooth department operations.
Main responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management: Provide guidance and supervision to nursing staff in the Emergency Department, ensuring adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
- Patient Care: Monitor and evaluate patient care to ensure compliance with established standards. Provide hands-on care as necessary, particularly in complex or critical situations.
- Staff Development: Foster the professional growth of nursing personnel by mentoring and supporting their development. Evaluate performance, provide constructive feedback, and facilitate ongoing education and training.
- Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day operations of the Emergency Department, including staffing, scheduling, and allocation of resources. Ensure appropriate staffing levels and availability of supplies.
- Quality Improvement: Lead initiatives to improve the quality of care within the department. Monitor patient outcomes, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to enhance patient care.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including those set by the Joint Commission, OSHA, and other relevant bodies. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other departments, such as ICU, Emergency Room, Same Day Surgery, and Administration, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
- Crisis Management: Respond to emergencies and critical incidents in the Emergency Department. Provide leadership and support during crises to maintain continuity of patient care.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience required, with preferred experience in progressive management within the medical field.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare technology. Demonstrates strong clinical skills in emergency nursing.
- License/Certification: Current RN license in the State of Nevada. Holds current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Possesses current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
- Other: Must demonstrate knowledge and skills required to provide appropriate care/service to patients of all ages on the assigned unit/department. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
Work Environment:
- This position entails working in the Emergency Department of a hospital. Requires the ability to respond promptly to emergencies and manage multiple priorities concurrently.
- The Nurse Manager will work various shifts to ensure 24-hour department coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
- The role involves prolonged periods of standing and walking. It also requires the ability to lift and move patients and equipment as needed.
