Nurse / RN Med Surg
TITLE: RN Medical Surgical Position
Location: Kingman, KS

Qualifications:
•Kansas RN license required.
•Completion of an Associate degree in nursing (ADN) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
•Six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Hours and Compensation:
•Full-time position, working three nights a week from 7pm to 7:30am. Every other weekend, rotating holidays.
•Salary range: $30-$49/hr, depending on years of experience. BSN holders receive additional compensation. Shift differential is $2.00/hr for evenings, $2.50 for nights, $2.70 for weekends.
•Comprehensive benefits package: Sign-on/relocation bonus of either $5k for a 1-year commitment or $10k for a 2-year commitment. $5k per year in tuition reimbursement is also offered.
Responsibilities:
•Deliver general nursing care to patients in a hospital healthcare facility by performing the following duties.
•Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff, and other departments using the AIDET protocol.
•Greet visitors and escort them to their destination.
•Collaborate with the Charge Nurse to obtain appropriate patient assignments. Receive handoff report from the off-going RN or LPN. Collect a unit telephone.
•Update and maintain the patient's White Communication board.
•Conduct a head-to-toe assessment of all assigned patients. Document in the electronic chart in real-time.
•Monitor patients throughout the shift, documenting any changes. Notify providers as necessary. Keep the Charge Nurse or House Supervisor informed of patient changes. Monitor telemetry and keep the SCU updated on patient changes. Monitor lab and test results.
•Perform Hourly Rounding: Coordinate with assistive staff, document as required, and provide patient education.
•Administer prescribed medications using approved nursing techniques and Med/Verify.
•Administer treatments as directed by physicians and in accordance with nursing standards and policies.
•Educate patients and families throughout the shift. Document education in the electronic flow chart.
Additional Information:
This facility is an acute care hospital with less than 50 beds and operates as a not-for-profit organization. The target nurse-to-patient ratio is 5:1, but it may be 3-4:1 until the census grows. Depending on the census, there may be another nurse or CNA working alongside you.
