Summary:
The Nursing Home Administrator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the facility, ensuring efficiency, profitability, compliance with company policies, and adherence to state and federal regulations, while providing the highest quality of care possible.
Education:
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, finance, a clinical specialty, or possess equivalent long-term care experience.
Licenses/Certification:
- Must be licensed by the state or eligible for reciprocity.
Experience:
- Minimum of two years of experience as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA) in a long-term care facility or completion of an Administrator-in-Training (AIT) program.
Job Functions:
- Lead the planning process to develop goals for quality care, employee retention, and financial performance.
- Direct the hiring and training of personnel, ensuring that all employees receive proper orientation and ongoing training to meet the organization's quality goals.
- Prepare annual budgets for approval by Regional Management.
- Provide guidance to clinical, administrative, and service departments.
- Implement control systems to ensure accountability across all departments.
- Represent the facility at community meetings and promote programs through various media channels.
- Monitor performance to achieve goals, identify areas for improvement, and take corrective action when necessary.
- Responsible for census development and marketing.
- Act as the facility's Equal Employment Opportunity Coordinator.
- Chair the facility's Performance Improvement Committee.
- Perform other assigned tasks.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Possess knowledge of Long Term Care, Medicaid, and Medicare regulations and standards.
- Demonstrate understanding of cost reporting, profit and loss, and budget compliance.
- Show ability to work with a diverse client base and manage a large staff.
- Be flexible in work hours.
- Exhibit effective communication skills with residents, family members, and individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Have strong leadership and motivational abilities.
- React decisively and swiftly in emergency situations.
- Display excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
