Salary Range: $63,386 - $95,090

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Scrub Technician to work under the guidance of the nurse manager or Registered Professional Nurse. As a Scrub Technician, you will be responsible for handling surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment during procedures. Your knowledge of the procedures being performed and anticipation of surgeon's needs will contribute to the quality of patient care. Maintaining sterile technique is of utmost importance in this role.

Responsibilities

  1. Compliance with Company Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors
  2. Fulfill essential functions and responsibilities according to New York Public Health Law 2824 – Surgical technology and surgical technologists
  3. Perform nursing procedures in accordance with Company policy
  4. Ensure supplies and equipment are checked prior to surgical procedures
  5. Scrub, set up, count, and assist intra-operatively
  6. Maintain the highest standard of sterile technique
  7. Provide post-procedure care assistance to surgeons and RNs
  8. Handle specimens appropriately
  9. Prepare instruments for decontamination
  10. Assist with preparation and picking of OR cases
  11. Follow Company policies and procedures for Infection Control and Fire Code
  12. Identify and report malfunctioning equipment
  13. Adhere to patient safety standards
  14. Respond appropriately in emergency situations
  15. Complete competency requirements
  16. Attend all mandatory in-services
  17. Practice cost containment
  18. Complete 15 hours of Continuing Education Credits as required by New York State Law (Effective January 1, 2015)
  19. Perform any other related duties as assigned

Education & Experience Requirements

  1. High School Diploma or GED required and one of the following must be met:
    1. Graduate from a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited program and hold and maintain CST certification
    2. Completed a military surgical technology program
    3. Grandfathered by providing evidence of one year of employment as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility within the four years immediately prior to the effective date of this section
    4. In the service of the federal government, performing duties related to that service
  2. Prior experience as a Surgical Technologist is preferred
