Power Plant Operations and Maintenance Manager
Position Summary:
The Operations and Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations and maintenance activities of three facilities. This position reports to the General Manager and is based in Lakewood, NJ, with occasional travel to Rising Sun, Maryland.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and oversight for all facility operations, including starting up and shutting down plant components, auxiliaries, and system components.
- Assist in the development and implementation of site safety requirements and procedures, ensuring consistent adherence and initiating corrective actions when necessary.
- Establish and enhance programs in operations, maintenance, chemistry, environmental control, and safety to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collect and analyze operational and performance data, maintaining accurate records through standardized processes.
- Maintain plant process chemistry within designated guidelines by conducting routine testing, evaluation, and implementing corrective actions.
- Perform electrical and mechanical inspections, troubleshoot issues, perform maintenance tasks, and plan outages.
- Oversee the operation of plant instrumentation and control devices to identify and address abnormal plant conditions.
- Develop standard procedures for operations and maintenance.
- Perform additional duties as required to meet plant needs.
- Delegate, monitor, and ensure high-quality work from the operations technicians.
- Assist in the preparation, justification, and control of annual operations and maintenance budgets.
- Support the General Manager in recruiting, awarding positions, employee development, qualifications, and goal programs.
- Interact with equipment and service vendors.
- Maximize plant efficiency and shareholder value while maintaining personnel and equipment safety, environmental compliance, and long-term commercial viability.
- Oversee employees on rotating shift schedules, manage scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
- Establish and maintain high standards of safety and environmental compliance.
Education/Experience Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
- 5-10 years of experience/training in power plant operations.
- New Jersey Black Seal certification.
- Knowledge of operations, mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical systems.
- First Aid & CPR Certified.
- Computer proficiency in data gathering, CMMS, and Microsoft Suite.
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on safety.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and foster personal development.
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
