O&M Tech


The Operations and Maintenance Technician is responsible for the efficient operation of the facility and possesses advanced maintenance skills. Depending on prior experience, the selected candidate will be assigned to a single skill position or a multi-skilled position.


  • Conduct all work activities professionally and with consideration for the environment and safety.
  • Ensure operational efficiency, unit reliability, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Maintain and execute tactical processes in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all plant equipment, including instrumentation, control systems, mechanical, and electrical equipment.


  • Proficient in troubleshooting electrical maintenance issues, such as switchgear, motors, breakers, and plant wiring. Familiarity with high-tech electronic test equipment and precision test instruments to identify problems is required.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting, calibrating, repairing, tuning, and replacing complex I & C equipment and components. Must be able to maintain the plant Distributed Control System and related equipment. Completion of extensive technical training in modern I & C work is necessary.
  • Experienced in troubleshooting and addressing mechanical problems related to combustion turbines, pumps, compressors, valves, and other rotating equipment. Proficiency in alignment, basic machining, rigging, and equipment component inspection and repair is required.
  • Competent in the operation of a simple cycle power plant and qualification as a control room operator is necessary.



  • Minimum 3-5+ years of relevant experience in a power plant environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in operating and maintaining a combustion turbine generating station, including balance-of-plant equipment.
  • Specific experience with Siemens Westinghouse 501 FC and 501 FD combustion turbine and Siemens Westinghouse V84.3.A2 is preferred.
  • Understanding of T3000 and Ovation control systems is preferred.
  • Understanding of dispatch protocol.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work priorities and schedules while collaborating with team members.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact with diverse personalities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer-based productivity tools.
  • Good decision-making abilities, long-term developmental capabilities, and networking skills.


  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Normal power plant environment and/or outdoor work environment.
  • Physical requirements include standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data.
  • Outdoor conditions may range from very cold to hot and humid. Work may involve confined spaces, dust, grease, oil, and exposure to loud noise.
  • Overtime and non-standard working hours may be required.
  • Occasional travel outside the service area.
  • Use of personal protective safety equipment, such as respirators, safety glasses, hard hats, appropriate footwear, and earplugs.
  • Operation of a personal computer.
  • Possible work near rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals.
  • Occasional lifting as needed to perform job duties.
