O&M Technician
Location: Lakewood, NJ
Are you a hands-on, safety-focused professional with experience in power plant operations and maintenance? We’re looking for an experienced O&M Technician to join our team! In this critical role, you’ll help ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our facility, while performing a wide range of maintenance and operational duties.

What You’ll Do:

Safely operate and maintain plant equipment and systems, ensuring reliability and compliance

Monitor boiler water chemistry and take corrective actions as needed

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical systems and equipment issues
-
Perform routine inspections, tests, and preventive maintenance tasks
-
Carry out mechanical repairs, installations, and modifications across the plant
-
Operate plant equipment such as plow trucks, forklifts, cranes, lawn equipment, and lifts
-
Lead and direct contractors on-site, and assist with outages and breakdowns
-
Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for maintenance tracking and inventory management
-
Maintain inventory, ship, and receive parts and materials
-
Work with the O&M Manager to develop work plans and maintain productive relationships across the team
-
Operate plant controls, including turbine and balance-of-plant systems, during startup, shutdown, and normal operation
-
Use plant data historian tools (PI Process Book) for troubleshooting and performance monitoring
-
Ensure full compliance with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, procedures, and NERC standards
-
Complete and document permitting functions, including Job Safety Analysis, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Hot Work, and Confined Space entries
-
Perform housekeeping duties and support continuous improvement of plant cleanliness and safety
-
Provide assistance and training to fellow team members

Work a rotating shift schedule, with flexibility for overtime and vacation coverage
What We’re Looking For:

High school diploma or GED equivalent required
-
Minimum of 5 years of experience in power plant operations and/or maintenance
-
Experience as a Control Room Operator (CRO) preferred
-
Strong mechanical, operational, and troubleshooting skills
-
Familiarity with CMMS and plant monitoring systems (PI Process Book)

Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
-
Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement
-
Flexible to work irregular hours, overtime, and provide vacation coverage as needed
