Nurse Manager (Operating Room RN)

Compensation: $150,000 – $200,000 + Sign-On Bonus + Relocation Assistance

Role Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Manager (Operating Room RN) to oversee the operations of a fast-paced and vibrant operating room in West Los Angeles. As the Nursing Manager, you will ensure the delivery of exceptional and efficient care while maintaining high standards. This includes managing a team of 47 direct reports, including 13 OR RNs, and overseeing the budget and resources. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a proven track record in OR management, and a commitment to creating a positive work environment.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily operations of the Operating Room, ensuring smooth patient flow and adherence to protocols.
• Lead and mentor a team of 47 direct reports, including 13 OR RNs, and provide opportunities for professional growth.
• Manage the OR budget, including resource allocation, equipment procurement, and staffing.
• Develop and enforce clinical standards of care and practice, adhering to regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
• Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the OR.
• Handle performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and other HR-related matters for the OR staff.
• Address patient and physician concerns promptly and professionally.
• Contribute to strategic planning and development initiatives for the OR department.
• Stay updated on the latest best practices in OR nursing and management.

Department Details:

• The OR department performs approximately 1,100 cases per month.
• Surgical specialties include general surgery, ENT, GYN, robotic surgery, bariatric surgery, plastic & reconstructive surgery, orthopedics (including joint replacements and sports medicine), and gender reassignment surgery.
• Note: This location does not perform spine, heart, or neuro cases.

Required Qualifications:

• Hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Have at least 5 years of full-time equivalent experience as an Operating Room RN. Recent experience is preferred. Experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center will not be considered.
• Have a minimum of 3 years of full-time equivalent experience as an Operating Room Manager or Supervisor. Charge Nurse experience alone will not meet this requirement. Some experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center may be accepted. Recent experience is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hold a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
• Possess Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification
• Have experience managing in a union environment
