Operations Manager – Dairy Manufacturing
We are currently seeking an experienced Operations Manager for a dairy manufacturing facility located in the Harrisburg, PA area. Our client, a top Fortune 200 company in the industry, is looking for a dynamic leader to join their team. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Operations Manager will oversee a 24x7 operation, providing mentorship, coaching, and training to develop effective and efficient teams. In collaboration with the Plant Steering Team, the Operations Manager will play a key role in developing and implementing short and long-term strategies, including project leadership, staffing, and employee engagement.
As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading a production team consisting of salaried reports and over 200 nonunion hourly associates. Your primary goal will be to foster a strong safety culture, positive employee relations and engagement, and consistency across all teams.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and implement programs to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of facility assets.
• Manage safety, quality, service, and cost performance within the assigned area.
• Provide recommendations to senior management regarding long-range labor strategies and capital equipment needs.
• Develop and execute recommendations to improve systems, policies, and procedures in a timely and accurate manner.
• Collaborate with the Human Resources department on employee relations matters and ensure consistent policy implementation.
• Implement strategies and tactics that align with the department and company vision and goals.
• Develop and maintain the operating budget and capital spending plans for the assigned area of responsibility.
• Identify, obtain, and develop the necessary staff capabilities to achieve departmental objectives consistently.
• Ensure the application of industry best practices and provide adequate training to employees.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus 7 years of management experience in the food processing/manufacturing industry, or an associate’s degree with 10 years of relevant experience.
• Excellent presentation, communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven track record in understanding the factors that drive product and labor cost variances.
• Experience in high-speed food manufacturing is highly desired.
