Paralegal

Legal Assistant

We are currently seeking a Legal Assistant in Raleigh, NC to provide comprehensive support to a team of attorneys in our Litigation practice group. As a Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting with various legal tasks and ensuring the smooth operation of the department.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and organize files throughout the entire litigation process.
  • Conduct research and interviews to gather relevant information for discovery.
  • Review and extract important documents from e-discovery.
  • Prepare responses to interrogatories and requests for document production.
  • Schedule and coordinate depositions.
  • Utilize litigation support technology to summarize and organize depositions, records, and testimony.
  • Draft pleadings and filings for civil litigation matters at the Federal and State levels.
  • Assist with case preparation, including identifying exhibits and preparing trial materials.
  • Verify case citations for accuracy using Westlaw.
  • Interact with government officials, court staff, and clients.
  • Maintain attorney calendars and track case deadlines.
  • Provide support during trials, including managing exhibits and coordinating witnesses.
  • Complete timesheets and meet deadlines set by the Firm.
  • Utilize document review platforms for document management.
  • Coordinate with experts to obtain necessary data and supporting documents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Required Skills:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required. A four-year college degree and a certificate in paralegal studies are preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
  • A minimum of five years of litigation experience is required, with a strong understanding of current technology used in the field.
  • Prior experience in product liability and medical malpractice cases is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and document management systems is required.
  • Experience with electronic resources and litigation support software is highly preferred.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and proofreading skills are essential.

  • Familiarity with litigation support technology relevant to the practice area.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with strong motivation and initiative.

  • Strong multitasking skills and ability to meet deadlines.
