Patient Care Technician – Hemodialysis – Part-time

The Hemodialysis Patient Care Technician is responsible for providing assistance and support to the unit management team in various aspects of patient care. This includes ensuring quality care, patient satisfaction, staff development, and overall business management. Collaboration, teamwork, and employee satisfaction are also integral to this role.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse for patients
  • Accurately and efficiently collect and record patient information
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by healthcare professionals
  • Support patient mobility by assisting with transfers and positioning
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment, strictly adhering to infection control protocols
  • Offer emotional support to patients and their families during challenging moments
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure effective and coordinated patient care

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

  • Monitor vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse
  • Accurately collect and record patient information
  • Assist in administering medications and treatments
  • Support patient mobility through transfers and positioning
  • Maintain a hygienic and secure environment that follows infection control protocols
  • Provide emotional comfort and support to patients and their families
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure efficient and cohesive patient care

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Completion of high school diploma or equivalent

2. Preferred education in physical sciences and/or training in laboratory techniques

3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in dialysis

4. Desirable reprocessing experience, including equipment repair and maintenance

5. Completion of training course in theory and practice of hemodialysis; or state licensure or registration as required. (PCT license in Ohio is required)

6. Possession of a valid driver's license and insurance if travel by car is necessary for company business

7. Knowledge of computer systems is desirable

8. Fulfillment of CMS requirement at 494.140(e)(4) for patient care dialysis technicians, which mandates certification under a State certification program or a nationally available certification program within 18 months of employment as a dialysis patient care technician.
