Licensed Pharmacy Manager

  • Retail location in New Buffalo, MI is seeking a Licensed Pharmacy Manager
    • The pay rate is $52/hour-$54/hour, with potential for monthly and quarterly bonus/profit sharing
    • Applicants must be able to work 36-40 hours per week
    • Flexible scheduling is available, but 1-2 Saturdays per month are required
    • Store hours are from 9am to 7pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am to 5pm on Saturdays. The store is closed on Sundays.

The role of a Retail Pharmacy Manager is crucial to the success of an independent community pharmacy. This position requires a strong dedication and commitment to our Pharmacy's success and culture. The successful candidate must be willing to tackle any task that needs to be done on a daily basis.

This position requires leadership, commitment, dedication, effective communication, empathy, and a comprehensive understanding of both pharmaceutical practices and the management of a community pharmacy. Effective communication, including listening and verbal and written skills, is the most important requirement for this role. The Pharmacy Manager will work closely with the Operations Manager to co-manage the pharmacy team and set and achieve goals for the overall success of the store. Delegating responsibilities and leading by example are crucial to the success of this role, as is fostering and maintaining our HomeTown mission.

The responsibilities of the Pharmacy Manager include:

  • Must possess a valid Pharmacist license
  • Perform all activities outlined in the Staff Pharmacist Job Description
  • Conduct Comprehensive Medication Reviews and other MTM activities effectively
  • Operate, train, and expand HomeTown's medication synchronization program
  • Certified to administer immunizations
  • Oversee communication with the Specialty team for specialty medications
  • Responsible for hiring and termination of pharmacy team members (working in collaboration with the Operations Manager, if applicable)
  • Monthly review of patient transfer report
  • Establish and communicate accurate job descriptions and expectations for all pharmacy staff
  • Create meaningful and timely pharmacy teammate Performance Reviews annually
  • Manage Pharmacist scheduling
  • Oversee the training of pharmacy technicians
  • Maintain inventory management, including vendor returns, interstore transfers, and removal of expired items
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of all pharmacy responsibilities
  • Live within a 30-minute drive of the store and be able to respond to after-hours calls
  • Maintain a list of teammates and their phone numbers at home
  • Responsible for the opening and closing of the pharmacy every day
  • Be available to assist customers with their pharmacy needs, even on days off
  • Attend all store events and important activities
  • Maintain a list of backup Pharmacists to call in case of an emergency
  • Oversee and maintain the cleanliness of the pharmacy
  • Perform general housekeeping tasks, such as emptying trash and vacuuming on a daily basis, and cleaning bathrooms and dusting shelves/fixtures on a weekly basis
  • Perform additional tasks as needed, such as moving products/boxes, running errands/making deliveries, and facing products on shelving
  • Ensure a friendly, caring, safe, and positive pharmacy environment/culture for both customers and teammates
  • Have fun and maintain a positive attitude every day!
