  1. This is a PT - Float role. Our premier client is seeking a Physical Therapist who can efficiently transition between Outpatient and Inpatient settings at three different locations, including Bath NY and Elmira NY.

  1. Develop and implement individual treatment programs for patients using the principles and practices of Physical Therapy. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary treatment team. As a Staff Physical Therapist, you will report to the Clinical Coordinator of Rehab Services.


1. Review requisitions for Physical Therapy.

a. Conduct interviews and evaluate the physical condition and needs of patients.

2. Create customized exercise and treatment programs for assigned patients.

a. Determine appropriate equipment usage, application, and body positioning. Adjust as necessary during the administration of treatments such as exercise, gait training, soft tissue mobility, whirlpool, hot packs, ultrasound, paraffin, ice packs, electrical stimulation, and traction.

b. Instruct patients on segments of the program, including the proper use of wheelchairs, crutches, canes, braces, and prosthetic appliances and devices.

c. Recommend modifications or changes in the patient's program based on your evaluation of progress.

d. Consult with physicians as necessary to discuss available alternatives.

3. Prepare written documentation required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, treatment plans, progress reports, and discharge summaries.

4. Communicate observations, facts, and comments with nursing and interdisciplinary team members to ensure efficient coordination of the overall healthcare plan.

5. Provide guidance and direction to staff members involved in patient care.

6. Maintain department policies, procedures, objectives, and quality initiative program, safety protocols, and infection control.

a. Adhere to hospital-wide safety responsibilities:

1. Maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees.

2. Maintain knowledge of all hospital safety policies and procedures, including fire safety and disaster protocols.

3. Follow safety practices when using equipment.

4. Use safety devices on equipment and ensure they are in proper working condition.

5. Wear appropriate safety attire and follow "Universal Precautions" whenever necessary.

6. Report any unsafe act or condition to a supervisor.

7. Attend safety programs when conducted.

b. Be familiar with and adhere to the department's "Policy and Procedure" manual.

c. Assist the Clinical Coordinator with quality initiative indicators as needed.

7. Assist in the care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.

8. Attend meetings as required and participate in committees as directed.

9. Assist in the transportation of patients to and from the PT Department as needed.

10. Assume the duties and responsibilities of Senior Therapists in their absence.

11. Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, workshops, etc.

12. Attend all annual mandatory educational programs as required by the position.

13. Provide age-appropriate care to patients of all age groups.

14. Understand and demonstrate the importance of satisfying the needs of customers/patients by interacting with them in a friendly and caring manner. Stay attentive to their needs, both psychologically and physically, and take the initiative to maintain communication throughout their experience.


  • Must be licensed, or eligible to obtain a license, to practice physical therapy in NYS at the time of hire.


  • Prior experience in a hospital setting is preferred.


  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire date.


  • This role requires appreciable physical effort or strain. There may be occasional repetitive tasks involving lifting, pushing, and pulling. Must be capable of independently lifting at least thirty (30) pounds and at least one-hundred and fifty (150) pounds with assistance.


  • Category II. Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. However, unplanned Category I tasks may need to be performed depending on employment requirements.


  • Adhere to universal precautions when engaging in patient care.
