  1. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individual treatment plans based on the principles and practices of Physical Therapy. Report to the Clinical Coordinator of Rehab Services.


1. Screen and evaluate patients to determine their physical condition and needs.

a. Conduct interviews to gather relevant information.

2. Design and administer treatment programs tailored to each patient's specific requirements.

a. Adjust treatment protocols based on progress assessments.

b. Provide instructions on assistive devices and techniques.

c. Consult with physicians for alternative treatment options.

3. Maintain accurate documentation of evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, and discharge summaries.

4. Communicate effectively with the nursing and interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care.

5. Provide guidance to support staff involved in patient care.

6. Adhere to department policies, procedures, safety protocols, and infection control measures.

a. Comply with hospital-wide safety guidelines.

b. Follow the department's policy and procedure manual.

c. Assist the Clinical Coordinator with quality initiatives.

7. Assist in the maintenance and care of department equipment and supplies.

8. Attend meetings and participate in committees as required.

9. Transport patients to and from the PT department, if needed.

10. Assume the Senior Therapist's responsibilities in their absence.

11. Engage in professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills.

12. Attend annual mandatory educational programs.

13. Provide age-appropriate care to patients across different age groups.

14. Deliver exceptional customer service and patient care.


  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain a valid physical therapy license in NYS.


  • Previous experience in a hospital setting preferred.

CPR Certification:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire date.

Physical Demands:

  • Position involves moderate to high physical effort. May require lifting, pushing, pulling. Ability to lift at least 30 pounds independently and up to 150 pounds with assistance.

Exposure Category:

  • Category II. No exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. May occasionally perform unplanned Category I tasks.

Infection Control:

  • Adhere to universal precautions when providing patient care.
