Pipeline Surge Analysis Engineer
Surge Analysis Engineer - Pipelines / Hybrid Work Schedule - Onsite 3 Days per Week.

$127,000 – $191,000 / year + Bonus + Relocation Assistance
Role Overview
We are seeking a Surge Analysis Engineer for our pipeline systems. In this role, you will be responsible for performing specialized engineering and project management tasks related to pipeline system planning, surge analysis, and overpressure protection calculations.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Conducting surge analysis modeling for commercial and growth projects, ensuring accuracy of Maximum Operating Pressure (MOP) calculations and effectively communicating any changes.
- Reviewing and evaluating data related to overpressure protection setpoints, sizing, and installation requirements. Communicating results and changes, and assisting in the design and specification of new overpressure protection mitigations.
- Providing support to project managers, field operations teams, and other groups as required, promoting pipeline integrity and educating others on operating pressures and overpressure protection strategies. Assisting in data collection efforts focused on setpoint and pressure data.
Providing technical assistance on various matters including equipment/system design, pipeline sizing and evaluation, pipeline control, pipeline facility design and operation, policies and procedures, and process safety.
Directing, performing, reviewing, and approving project management activities such as equipment efficiency analysis, hydraulic calculations, valve and pipe sizing, and gas flow analysis done by engineers.
Researching, analyzing, preparing, and approving engineering studies, governmental regulations, pipeline and measurement system analyses, bid proposals, construction and measurement contracts, cost estimates, and material specifications/selections.
- Overseeing the analysis and evaluation of various pipeline systems and providing recommendations for improvements related to capacity, operating costs, and system operation. Serving as a subject matter expert and mentoring less experienced engineers.
- Identifying and recommending new processes and ideas, and taking a lead role in their implementation.
- Anticipating changes in work demands and proactively identifying assignments or training to meet those demands.
- Managing the utilization of manpower and equipment resources.
- Assessing, scheduling, and prioritizing projects based on customer needs and their value to the organization.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or closely related field, preferred qualifications include:
Work Experience
Preferred skills and experience for this role:
- Working knowledge of Synergi Pipeline Simulator or similar software.
- Experience in gas measurement and regulation activities, processing and/or storage operations, company/governmental operating and safety procedures, pipeline stress/strain analysis, and industry best practices and design philosophy.
- At least ten years of experience in engineering, operations, and/or project management.
- Proven track record of achieving goals, developing employee and team strengths, and exhibiting positive leadership and influence.
