Plant Facilities Lead

Location: Orrville, OH

A manufacturing facility located near Wooster, OH is seeking a Plant Facilities Lead. This role will be responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of plant utilities such as boilers, air compressors, and fire control systems. The Facilities Lead will also focus on maintaining reliable systems, supporting Preventive Maintenance, and developing the capabilities of the Facilities Technician team. Additionally, they will be responsible for managing compliance with environmental permits and agencies.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the reliable operation of plant utilities and shared services
  • Oversee permits and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and outside utility providers
  • Participate in daily reliability meetings and communicate issues and action plans related to plant utility systems
  • Provide training and coaching to the Facilities Technician team to enhance their technical skills and develop them into versatile technicians
  • Monitor utility costs and develop improvement plans at a plant level
  • Coordinate with internal maintenance resources and external contractors to prioritize and complete mechanical and electrical work
  • Contribute to the Progressive Maintenance (PM) pillar team and lead the PM pillar capability for facilities
  • Create maintenance plans and spare parts strategies, utilizing Oracle eAM
  • Oversee the reliable operation of the plant's wastewater treatment facility
  • Lead and support facility-related projects, including capital projects
  • Assist with plant sustainability efforts, such as landfill diversion, water conservation, and greenhouse gas footprint reduction
  • Maintain technical documentation for facilities
  • Conduct regular maintenance and testing of the plant's fire control systems
  • Act as the primary contact for the plant's insurance provider
  • Take ownership of a Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Key Element
  • Manage the plant maintenance, building grounds, and utilities budget

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma required, BS degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities systems
  • Prior experience in leading, developing, or managing others
  • Knowledge of environmental management and compliance, including air emission reporting, landfill characterization, stormwater management, spill containment, and chemical reporting
  • Experience with HVAC systems, particularly managing large chilled water systems and refrigerated direct expansion applications
  • Familiarity with water chemical treatment, reverse osmosis, and food safe supplemental additives
  • Understanding of contract management for predictive technologies and technical contract services
  • Technical knowledge of various systems including boilers, compressors, HVAC, electrical distribution, water and sewer systems, fire systems, and loading/unloading systems

Additional skills and experience that would contribute to success in this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Facilities Management, or related field
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience in managing teams in a 24/7 operations environment preferred
  • Mechanical and/or electrical experience in the CPG or pharmaceutical industry
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficiency with Oracle Enterprise Asset Management (eAM)
  • Knowledge of high-performance work systems (SQMS, IWS)
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven project management abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and align actions with plant objectives and long-term vision
  • Familiarity with GE Proficy (Historian, RTIP, Plant Apps)
