Plant Mechanical Engineer (Fixed Equipment)

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our client's team at their Lafayette, Indiana plant. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our cutting-edge chemical manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and drive capital projects, overseeing safety, reliability, and compliance enhancements ranging from small-scale improvements (<$50K) to major initiatives (>$1M).
• Serve as a key resource in interpreting and implementing regulations from OSHA, ASME, NFPA, PSM, and EPA RMP to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Lead process safety efforts by managing change processes, conducting pre-startup safety reviews, and prioritizing safety in every change initiative.
• Enhance our safety culture through conducting audits, leading incident investigations, and delivering training programs to promote best practices.
• Provide technical expertise in areas such as pressure vessel repair, tank maintenance, machine guarding, and interpreting RAGAGEP standards.
• Mentor and develop team members, empowering them with the knowledge and tools to excel in safety and engineering.

• Must have a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Relevant experience in chemical process safety or combustible dust environments is a plus.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead multiple initiatives from start to finish.
• Technical acumen in chemical unit operations, Process Safety Management (PSM), and key safety standards such as OSHA, NFPA, ASME, and API.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with keen attention to detail.
• Experience with Dust Hazard Analysis (DHA), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), and regulatory compliance is a plus.
