We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Automation Engineer to serve as the project leader for the design and implementation of Advanced Control / Optimization projects. In this role, you will act as a technical advisor to Process/Project Engineering and Operations, providing valuable insights and expertise on complex process control systems.

Your main responsibilities will include analyzing and optimizing the control of process operations to enhance unit performance and profitability. Additionally, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the infrastructure and software used for control and safety functions.

  • Steward the continued development and sustained performance of Advanced Process Control technologies.
  • Serve as a technical advisor to Process/Project Engineering and Operations, offering support in areas such as design, troubleshooting, and control loop and instrument tuning.
  • Implement and provide support for essential Process Control System (DCS), Multivariable control (MVC), Safety Instrumented System (SIS), and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) hardware and software.


  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Process Control or Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of experience in process control or a related field within the refining/chemical industry. Alternatively, 8 years of control board/Operations supervision experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Advanced computer skills, including experience in modeling, multivariable control, and DeltaV configuration.
  • Proven expertise in various process control related skills, such as DCS configuration, PLC configuration, multivariable control (design, implementation, and maintenance), and instrument tuning.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently while maintaining a positive customer service focus. Collaboration within a team setting is essential.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

Eligibility Requirements: The Maritime Transportation Security Act requires all individuals who will need unescorted access to a regulated facility to hold a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) in accordance with the rules established by the United States Coast Guard and the Transportation Security Administration. Candidates must be eligible to receive a TWIC in order to be considered for this position.
