Must Have's:

  • Master’s degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain.

  • 10+ years of technical experience.

  • 2 years in a leadership or project management role.

 
Strongly Preferred: 
 
  • PE licensure in multiple states (SC, NC, GA, FL, TN preferred).

  • 15+ years of water/wastewater process engineering experience, including 5+ years of team leadership.

  • Strong background in water and wastewater treatment systems.

A growing Water Design Center in Greenville, SC is seeking a Process Engineer Group Leader to build, lead, and manage a team of engineering professionals supporting a wide range of water and wastewater projects nationwide. In this leadership role, you’ll drive process design and project management, mentor team members, engage with clients, and support business development initiatives.

 

What You’ll Do:

You will oversee projects from conceptual planning through final construction documents, including facility layouts, design calculations, equipment specifications, vendor coordination, and regulatory agency interactions. You will lead process design efforts for water and wastewater treatment plants and related infrastructure projects.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting regional teams with business development and treatment-related initiatives.

  • Leading the development of conceptual and detailed designs for treatment systems.

  • Preparing design calculations, construction documents, and specifications.

  • Collaborating with mechanical, structural, electrical, and civil teams.

  • Managing and mentoring a team of process engineers to meet project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.

  • Participating in client meetings, industry conferences, and serving as a technical expert.

 

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Recruiting and developing top process engineering talent.

  • Scoping, scheduling, budgeting, and managing projects.

  • Driving the detailed design process in coordination with multi-discipline teams.

  • Planning and balancing team workloads and project assignments.

  • Developing and maintaining design standards, tools, and training programs.

  • Ensuring quality assurance compliance across all process deliverables.

Travel may be required for client meetings, site visits, project workshops, design reviews, and industry conferences.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain.

  • 10+ years of technical experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or project management role.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PE licensure in multiple states (SC, NC, GA, FL, TN preferred).

  • 15+ years of water/wastewater process engineering experience, including 5+ years of team leadership.

  • Strong background in water and wastewater treatment systems.

  • Proficiency with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, Word).

  • Experience with wastewater process modeling software (e.g., GPS-X, SUMO, BioWin).

  • Hydraulic modeling and cost estimation experience.

  • Active involvement with professional organizations such as AWWA, WEF, or WRF.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit.

  • Proven client relationship management skills.

  • Strong teaching, coaching, and mentorship abilities.
