Job Title: Process Engineering Manager
Location: Spartanburg, SC
Salary: $110,000 to $150,000+ Full Benefits + Paid Relocation + Siging Bonus
The Process Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating technology solutions for synthetic spinning processes on a global scale. They will collaborate with the Operations and Product Development teams to drive project success. The main focus of this role is to improve process efficiency, product quality, and reduce the cost of poor quality for synthetic nonwovens operations worldwide. Safety procedures will be strictly followed to ensure a secure work environment. From raw material acceptance to final packaging, the Process Engineering Manager will oversee the entire operational and technical process. They will manage a team of 2-4 process engineers and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams across various industrial manufacturing facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Process Engineering team, allocating resources and controlling budgets to achieve business goals. Collaboration with commercial, manufacturing, and product technology teams is essential.
- Conduct biannual performance appraisals for direct reports and provide coaching and counseling as needed to enhance individual performance.
- Optimize the spinning process through data-driven approaches, including process control, equipment design, and SOP modifications to decrease equipment downtime, reduce capital investment, and improve overall FPY.
- Perform plant trials to evaluate new and optimized settings and related equipment, ensuring EP TP preparation and submission, RACI chart development, MOC documentation, budget control, coordination with the Plant Ops team, equipment procurement, installation, and trial operation and data collection.
- Implement new control approaches and process equipment based on trial results and commercialize them effectively.
- Prepare final documentation and issue internal research or engineering reports covering assigned projects.
- Practice safety procedures in plant operations and adhere to all Plant safety requirements.
- Identify best practices in forming, drying, curing, and winding technologies and implement them across global plants.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing problems related to spinning and provide technical support to Plant operations.
- Collaborate with the product technology department to ensure that process and product projects enhance or complement product quality.
- Support new product development by establishing appropriate process settings to meet performance and quality requirements.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest technology trends and apply new technologies to solve business problems when applicable.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in chemical, manufacturing, or material science engineering with a minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering manufacturing management.
- Work experience in the Spunbond Spunlace Carding industry is preferred, but similar experience in the synthetic industry or other complex manufacturing industries is acceptable.
- Expert knowledge in the field of expertise.
- Ability to train, develop, and motivate employees to ensure operational flexibility, responsiveness, and increased technical knowledge.
- Proficient in managing department budgets and executing manufacturing technology project management and process optimization initiatives.
- Ability to meet aggressive program deliverables and work in cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Must have experience with global synthetic nonwovens/polymer.
