Product Manager-Non-Food-Private label

About the Position: This particular role involves managing our portfolio for a designated group of categories and overseeing the product lifecycle management and P&L performance of these items. You will be responsible for leading the sourcing, product development, and commercialization of these items. As an integral part of the team, you will develop a category roadmap based on identified business opportunities, collaborate with key stakeholders, and execute that roadmap through flawless commercialization. This position offers a unique opportunity to join a new team dedicated to developing the future of sourcing. It reports to the Brands Product Director and is a newly-created role.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement short, medium, and long-term plans for category management and category sourcing strategies across specific Brands categories.
  • Conduct industry analyses and competitive assessments to prioritize white space sales and/or margin opportunities that add value to the company.
  • Lead and manage the RFP process for selected Brands categories, collaborating with key business owners throughout and identifying suitable supplier partners.
  • Negotiate contracts and business terms with suppliers using strategic sourcing techniques, advanced scenario modeling, and design to value thinking.
  • Provide business recommendations to leaders for decision-making, including the Purchasing Leadership Team and our Independent Operators network.
  • Manage legal contracts with awarded suppliers, working closely with the legal team on indemnifications and terms and conditions.
  • Monitor supplier performance, assess service levels, review innovation pipelines, and drive continuous cost improvements.
  • Conduct ad hoc category or business analyses to support stakeholders across the company and act as a key thought partner.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to develop and launch new products that meet quality expectations and offer excellent value to shoppers and stores.
  • Create financial decks to summarize Brands category performance, cost analysis, and key financial metrics.
  • Create reports and dashboards with insightful data visualizations to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
  • Provide input to the Brands design agency for packaging design solutions, considering category activity and private label competitive positioning.
  • Review and approve label claim documentation, quality certifications, specifications, and other legal or regulatory documents to manage risk.
  • Generate sales and marketing content for digital marketing events and promotional activities.
  • Effectively manage the Brands portfolio within assigned departments to drive sales growth and enhance margin performance while maintaining value for shoppers.

Compensation:

  • Base Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000 per year

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Food Science, Economics, or Supply Chain. MBA preferred.
  • Over 10 years of analytical experience with a data-driven approach to problem-solving and advanced Excel skills.
  • Over 7 years of experience in private label, sourcing, and/or product commercialization across multiple consumable product categories.
  • Action-oriented, self-motivated individual with a track record of leading change and implementing operational improvements.
  • Familiarity with clean-sheeting, should-cost modeling, tolling, and financial modeling for consumer-packaged goods.
  • Knowledgeable about category industry activities, regulatory restrictions, certification standards, brand positioning, claim values, and shopper behavior drivers.
  • Collaborative worker with the ability to build trusted relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Strong multitasking, prioritization, and independent work skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including strong PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience working with mainframe ERP systems and multiple data sources is a plus.
