Job Title: Night Shift Production Manager

Location: Norfolk, Nebraska

Salary: $70-85K plus bonus

Job Summary of the Night Shift Production Manager: The Night Shift Production Manager holds the responsibility of overseeing the operations of the facility to achieve overall business objectives. This includes managing daily production activities, ensuring inventory accuracy, maintaining sanitation standards, and assisting the EHS manager in implementing safety programs and policies for the production area. The Production Supervisors will report directly to the Night Shift Production Manager.

Job Responsibilities of the Night Shift Production Manager:

  • Plan and develop manufacturing strategies and programs to achieve budgeted unit cost and output goals.
  • Coordinate and manage the activities of all functional areas in manufacturing to ensure alignment with plant goals. Communicate priorities as necessary.
  • Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all production processes.
  • Maintain production capacity that meets sales volume requirements, with contingency plans in place when necessary.
  • Develop and manage the annual operating budget to measure performance against objectives.
  • Ensure the quality and integrity of plant assets, both current and fixed, and seek opportunities for improvement.
  • Enhance technical and manufacturing management skills within the plant through training and development initiatives.
  • Establish performance standards for supervisors and maintain up-to-date job descriptions and improvement plans for all employees in the production area.
  • Create appropriate employee work schedules in line with customer orders and plant performance requirements.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing to establish quality specifications for incoming raw materials, and ensure compliance with these specifications.
  • Work with Quality/R&D to develop and improve products and processes. Supervise experimental and test runs, and report all results.
  • Manage inventory of off-spec materials, including scheduling and product reworking as necessary.
  • Maintain the formulation data system by entering all new product formulations accurately.

Education & Experience of the Night Shift Production Manager:

  • Previous management experience of 5-7 years in a food-grade facility is required.
  • Background in dairy, evaporators, and/or drying technologies is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills are essential for this role.
  • Thorough knowledge of plant operation procedures and proficiency in business system software applications is required.
  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities are necessary for success in this position.
  • Previous supervisory experience is required.
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Ability to work a night shift schedule of 6pm-6am, following a 2-2-3 schedule.
