Production Manager

Production Manager - Experience in the food manufacturing industry is highly preferred

As the Manufacturing Supervisor, you will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating daily production resources to meet safety, quality, cost, and delivery expectations over a two-shift operation. You will oversee the staffing and development of the production team, providing direction and enabling them to drive results while also prioritizing production activities based on demand. Additionally, you will work cross-functionally with other departments to continuously improve policies and procedures and ensure safety, quality, and food safety on all product lines.

Safety

Enforce and coach on all internal and external safety regulations.

Promote a safe working environment by implementing safety-related processes and procedures

Stay informed about State and Federal Safety Requirements.

Product Quality

Ensure consistent product quality and work towards improvement.

Address quality deviations and establish corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Ensure sanitation and housekeeping in assigned areas meet standards and regulatory requirements.

Hold employees accountable for product quality.

Cost Control

Manage labor variances and develop action plans to reduce labor costs and minimize downtime.

Monitor line efficiencies and implement corrective actions for deviations from standard.

Track waste levels and develop plans to reduce them.

Participate in long-term capital planning.

Analyze and develop cost studies for proposals to reduce operating costs.

Production Planning

Ensure adherence to production plan and maintain accurate product quantities.

Manage material flow and usage in assigned area.

Communicate potential bottlenecks and underachievement to the scheduling department.

Monitor and improve overall equipment effectiveness.

Consult with other departments to explore equipment modifications and replacements that enhance operations and reduce maintenance costs.

Promote teamwork and collaboration between all plant departments.

Training

Motivate plant employees by recognizing positive achievements in safe practices, work quality, attitude, attendance, follow-through, and organization.

Oversee the execution of training programs as needed.

Lead, coach, and develop direct report production supervisors.

Ensure proper training for supervisors, operators, and associates, and communicate training needs to management.

Employee Relations

Collaborate with the Human Resources department to address employee issues in accordance with company policy.

Technical Support and Continuous Improvement

Drive continuous improvement projects in Production.

Provide support during the design, installation, and training phases of new processes and machinery.

Review the design of new equipment.

Regular and punctual attendance is required.

May include other projects or tasks assigned by management.

Academic qualifications

Required

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Food Science, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or a related field

Previous experience in food manufacturing and/or consumer packaging goods (CPG) highly preferred

4 to 6 years of relevant experience.

HACCP certification

Work experience & skills

- Previous experience in food manufacturing and/or consumer packaging goods (CPG) is preferred

- Strong knowledge of lean principles
