Production Manager

Job Title: Manufacturing Operations Supervisor – Evening Shift

Location: Norfolk, NE

Salary: $70-120K per annum with potential bonus

Summary of the Manufacturing Operations Supervisor Role: The Evening Manufacturing Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading the manufacturing facility to achieve overall business objectives. This includes overseeing daily production, managing inventory accuracy, ensuring sanitation standards, and assisting the EHS manager in implementing safety programs and policies in the production area. Production supervisors will report to the Manufacturing Operations Supervisor.

Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Operations Supervisor

  • Develop and execute manufacturing plans and programs to achieve budgeted unit cost and output targets.
  • Coordinate activities across all manufacturing functions to ensure alignment with plant goals, including effective communication of priorities as needed.
  • Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all production processes.
  • Maintain production capacity that meets sales volume requirements, developing contingency plans as necessary.
  • Develop and monitor the annual operating budget to measure progress towards objectives.
  • Ensure maintenance and improvement of plant assets, including current and fixed assets.
  • Enhance technical and manufacturing management skills at the plant through development initiatives.
  • Establish and implement performance standards for all supervisors, regularly updating job descriptions and improvement plans.
  • Create appropriate scheduling and employee work schedules in line with customer orders and plant performance requirements.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing to establish quality specifications for incoming raw materials, ensuring compliance with these specifications during procurement.
  • Work with Quality/R&D to develop and enhance products and processes. Oversee all experimental and test runs, analyzing and reporting results.
  • Manage inventory of off-spec materials and coordinate the rescheduling and reworking of products as needed.
  • Maintain the formulation data system, ensuring accurate entry of all new product formulations.

Education & Experience of the Manufacturing Operations Supervisor:

  • 5-7 years of prior management experience in a food grade operation.
  • Background in dairy, evaporators, and/or drying technologies is preferred.
  • Experience in dairy manufacturing or whey is required.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills are essential.
  • Thorough knowledge of plant operation procedures and proficiency in business system software applications are necessary.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills are required.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role is preferred.
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to work the evening shift schedule from 6pm-6am on a 2-2-3 rotation basis.
  • Bilingual proficiency is highly desired.
