Roadway Project Engineer

Location: Jacksonville, FL

The Roadway Project Engineer plays a vital role in the project operations team. This position is responsible for supporting the project staff, Project Managers, and Project Superintendents to ensure efficient planning, communication, organization, implementation, and tracking of the project.

Experience:

• Medium to large heavy civil, roadway, and bridge project experience valued at $50M+

Responsibilities:

• Thorough review of the contract and specifications
• Assisting Project Managers, Project Superintendents, and Project Engineers as needed
• Supporting schedule preparations and updates
• Facilitating quantity reporting, project costs, and forecasting
• Obtaining pricing from subcontractors and vendors, including change orders
• Managing equipment and material deliveries
• Coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, and workforce to address project challenges and conflicts
• Assisting with monthly billing, cash flow projections, and change order processing
• Ensuring effective document control, including submittal schedules, contract documents, and project record drawings
• Reviewing daily reports for accuracy using Heavy Job
• Preparing and maintaining a technical submittal list
• Complying with notice requirements such as inspections, survey staking, joint measurements, utility adjustments, testing, and claims
• Issuing correspondence to subcontractors and vendors regarding revised plans or specifications
• Assisting with project closeout
• Performing additional assignments as directed by the Project Manager

Job Requirements:

• B.S. in Civil Engineering with a focus on Construction Engineering and Management (CEM)
• 3-5+ years of experience in the civil construction field (office/field role)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, and Primavera 6
