Roadway Construction Project Engineer

Overview
We are looking for a Roadway Construction Project Engineer to support our project team in managing essential administrative and technical functions. This role works closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, subcontractors, and vendors to help ensure projects stay on track, within budget, and meet quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Review contracts, project plans, and specifications thoroughly to support project objectives.

• Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with daily project management needs.

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of project schedules.

• Monitor material quantities, track project costs, and support cost forecasting efforts.

• Obtain and evaluate pricing from subcontractors and vendors, including for change orders.

• Coordinate timely equipment and material deliveries.

• Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and project teams to resolve onsite challenges.

• Support monthly billing, cash flow projections, and the management of change orders.

• Maintain organized document control, including submittals, contract records, and project drawings.

• Verify and ensure accuracy of daily project reports (e.g., HeavyJob).

• Manage technical documentation such as submittal logs, NPDES permits, SWPPP, and project schedules.

• Ensure compliance with inspection protocols, testing requirements, utility coordination, and notification procedures.

• Communicate project changes to subcontractors and vendors promptly.

• Assist in project closeout activities to ensure smooth completion.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, ideally with a concentration in Construction Engineering and Management (CEM).

• 3–8 years of relevant experience in civil construction, in either field or office roles.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Primavera P6.
