Job Title: Project Engineering Manager

Location: Omaha, Nebraska

Salary: $120-150K plus bonus

Job Summary: We are searching for a Project Engineering Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be focused on delivering results, self-motivated, data-driven, and able to adapt quickly to changing business and customer requirements. This position is hands-on and involves working with engineers, technicians, and product development teams. As a Project Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for building prototypes, conducting tests, and traveling to customer sites for inspections and commissioning activities.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent education.
  • 3-7 Years of experience managing and leading a technical team.
  • Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer (PE) in Nebraska, with the ability to become licensed in other states.
  • Experience in reviewing technical specifications for quotations and assessing large contract risks.
  • Ability to review design risk assessments and ensure compliance with customer requirements.
  • Skilled in managing long project timelines and maintaining high productivity to meet project milestones.
  • Previous experience in writing design standards is preferred.
  • Proficient in 3D modeling software.
  • Familiarity with regulatory codes such as UL, CSA, NEC, and NFPA.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and process-oriented mindset to address issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationwide and internationally. Approximately 10% travel expected.


Manage a team of engineers and designers to complete project-specific engineering tasks.

Allocate resources within the Project Engineering team, assess and mitigate risks, and adhere to project deadlines for technical deliverables.

Review and approve Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), drawing packages, bills of materials, and other technical documentation.

Ensure timely completion of ECOs and large projects/custom-engineered solutions.

Coordinate with sales and project management teams to manage resources and workloads for projects.

Ensure timely delivery of technical deliverables for large projects.

Lead technical review of specifications for quotations and assess risks related to large contracts.

Oversee the development of large project custom-engineered solutions, including design, modeling, prototyping, evaluation, and testing.

Review design risk assessments and ensure products and solutions meet customer's technical and contractual requirements.

Establish design standards for transit systems and components to build application and product knowledge.

Support research and development activities by conducting experiments and providing feedback on test results.

Monitor and manage department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Review Corrective Action Reports (CARs) and provide support to address root causes and resolve issues.

Travel to perform on-site inspections for large projects and support commissioning activities both nationally and internationally.

Coordinate engineering activities across all engineering teams with the Director of Engineering and other Engineering Managers.

Supervise a group of Engineers and Designers.

Provide leadership, knowledge, and performance reviews for the team.

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the team.
