Project Manager (Contractor)

Contractor Project Manager

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Sr. Program Manager, Assembly Plants, Customers, External Supply Base, and Internal Management to ensure that ongoing and future Projects / Programs meet all requirements, both from the customer and internal processes perspectives.

· Attend Customer meetings

· Track and address open issues through Problem Solving methods

· Manage Manufacturing Requirements

· Handle Cost Management, Capital, and Tool tracking

· Ensure Design Compliance to Process

· Manage Tooling & Equipment TimeEffectively Support Launch Manager

Support Build Process Bulk and Just-in-Time (JIT) strategies

Develop and Maintain Master Timing plan and tracking procedures

Allocate Program Resources effectively

Provide Facilities support when necessary

Ensure program plans are aligned with established objectives and company needs, meeting predefined targets for:

· Safety

· Quality

· Cost

· Timing

Lead Cross Functional Program Team in adherence to Business System guidelines and the Engineering Change Process:

· Define and communicate to the team the Corporate, Division, and Program specific deliverables in terms of timing, quality, and completeness requirements

Monitor and track progress

Bring up and address any relevant issues to remove barriers for the team

Support and monitor customer launch / engineering build activities

Encourage coordination and communication within the program team and with stakeholders

Participate in manufacturing and product engineering processes

Initiate Purchase Requisition process and approve PR’s for required contracted work

Ensure overall quality of design PDP deliverables to the Operating Divisions

Lead Change Authorization & Implementation Meetings

Coordinate engineering change management responsibilities for current programs, including Quoting, Costing, Planning, Implementation, and Closure

Coordinate and maintain communications with the customer and Plant Operations for all program activities

Lead all program phase reviews for assigned programs

Document all activities as required

Any additional responsibilities as assigned by management

 

 

 
 

 

 

Limits of Authority

Inform Department Manager of any situations that may pose significant risks to the program, product assurance, facilities, employee safety, or customer satisfaction results.

Take necessary actions to prevent nonconformance related to product, process & systems

Identify and document any problems related to the product, process or system.

Propose and implement solutions through the appropriate channels and verify their implementation

Control further processing and delivery of nonconforming products until the deficiency is corrected.

 

 

 
 

 

 

Basic Education, Experience and Skills Required

Bachelor’s degree in a technical engineering field, preferably Mechanical or Industrial Engineering. A non-technical four-year degree with substantial manufacturing experience is the minimum requirement, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in PC applications for cost tracking, budgeting, and various spreadsheet analyses. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal:

· Program Manager – A minimum of 5 years of experience in an automotive manufacturing/engineering environment with previous responsibility for managing project teams. Prefer exposure to both product engineering and manufacturing operations. Work history should demonstrate strong problem-solving and business decision-making skills, as well as effective presentation ability

· Familiarity with GM SupplyPower, eSupplier, and Ford Supplier Portal access and systems

Experience with Engineering BOMS, ECR / TWO, and Engineering Change Management

Suspension, OHS, and IP experience is advantageous

Basic understanding of sequencing, repack, cross-docking, and assembly processes such as “VAA, JIT, LOC, MSS”

Able to maintain confidentiality of information
