Project Manager – FDOT

Location: Orlando, FL

Position Overview

The FDOT Project Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing daily operations of construction projects with a value ranging from $5M to $100M. Ensuring project completion within budget, schedule, and with utmost safety is crucial for this role.

The Project Coordinator holds overall accountability for project execution. This includes estimating, budgeting, scheduling, contract compliance, quality control, project closure, and client satisfaction. They will provide necessary resources and closely monitor construction progress to ensure project goals align with client objectives. Additionally, the Project Coordinator will actively engage with field supervision and project engineering teams, offering training and guidance to foster professional growth and improvement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee a complete heavy highway, road, and/or bridge construction project or a significant segment of a construction project
  • Plan and execute complex technical work requiring sound judgment and decision-making authority
  • Manage field construction activities, engineering, and other field-based project support activities
  • Ensure contract adherence, meeting schedule and budget requirements
  • Establish and maintain relationships, serving as the primary point of contact with the client
  • Administer the contract and protect the company's rights and remedies concerning changes
  • Organize and oversee the craft workforce required for contract execution
  • Negotiate and manage contracts on behalf of the company with the client and external agencies


Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 3-10 years of recent heavy highway, road, and bridge construction management experience
  • Past involvement in medium to large heavy highway, road, and bridge construction projects (valued at $50M+)
  • Knowledge of the local construction environment is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field is desirable
  • Preferred certification in OSHA 30
  • Proven track record of effectively organizing workforces to achieve project objectives
  • Comprehensive understanding of various construction disciplines
  • Strong leadership skills
