Overall Description
The position of Senior Project Coordinator involves overseeing the daily operations of construction projects with a value range of $500M to $2B. The role is responsible for ensuring the safe, timely, and cost-effective completion of each project.
The Senior Project Coordinator plays a crucial role in the overall success of project execution. Responsibilities include estimating, budgeting, scheduling, contract compliance, safety, quality control, project closure, and client satisfaction. Additionally, this role involves managing labor and equipment resources, monitoring construction progress, establishing strategic project objectives, and closely monitoring performance to ensure the goals of the client are met. The Senior Project Coordinator will also provide guidance, training, and support to field supervision and project engineering teams for their professional growth and improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire heavy highway, road, and/or bridge construction project OR a significant segment of a construction project
- Plan and execute complex or technical tasks that require sound judgment and decision-making authority
- Manage field construction activities, engineering, and other support activities for the project(s)
- Ensure the contract is executed to meet the agreed-upon schedule and budget
- Establish and maintain relationships as the primary point of contact with the client
- Administer the contract and protect the rights and remedies of the company in relation to any changes
- Coordinate the recruitment of skilled workers and provide direct management for field supervision
- Utilize negotiation and contract management skills to represent the company with the client and external agencies
Required Skills and Experience
- Must have 7-20 plus years of current/recent experience in Rail, heavy highway, road, and bridge construction management
- Experience in managing large Rail, heavy highway, road, and bridge construction projects ($500M+)
- Knowledge of the local construction environment is desirable
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline is preferred
- OSHA 30 certification is preferred
- Proven track record of effectively organizing workforces to achieve project objectives
- Comprehensive understanding of various construction disciplines
- Strong leadership skills
