As a licensed professional, the Physical Therapist Assistant plays a crucial role in improving patients' mobility and implementing care interventions. They provide exercise instructions, demonstrate empathy, and carefully document treatment outcomes. Collaborating with physical therapists, they assist in enhancing patients' physical abilities and overall well-being.


Description:
The role of the Physical Therapist Assistant is to help patients achieve their treatment goals by administering manual physical exercises, instructing and encouraging patients in non-manual exercises, assisting with ambulatory functional activities and daily-living tasks, and providing high-quality supportive care. The PTA will assess and interpret evaluations and test results, determining appropriate physical therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians. Thorough documentation of patient care services is essential, adhering to federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements. This involves staying updated with existing and new legislation, anticipating future changes, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on necessary actions. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting follow-up visits for home health orthopedic patients
  • Maintaining eligibility requirements for home health services
  • Assisting patients in utilizing supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses
  • Instructing and counseling patients by providing information on therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, and promoting wellness and health maintenance
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by following procedures, rules, regulations, and infection-control policies and protocols
  • Monitoring treatment trends and ensuring physical therapy services align with production objectives
  • Driving is a requirement

Qualifications:
  • Possession of a Master's degree in physical therapy
  • At least 1 year of experience in home health as a physical therapist
  • Current licensure to practice as a physical therapist within the state of agency operation, maintaining compliance with accepted professional standards and practices
  • Must possess and maintain valid CPR certification while employed in a clinical role
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and be able to travel to all business locations
