Quality Assurance Director

Job Title: Director of Quality Control – Dairy Manufacturing

Location: Norfolk, NE

Salary: $100-160K

Job Summary of the Quality Control Director: The Quality Control Director oversees product safety, quality, and regulatory compliance at the dairy manufacturing plant. They are responsible for developing and implementing a proactive quality system, ensuring compliance with specifications, training operators, conducting quality testing, managing labeling and complaints, and communicating with sales and plant personnel regarding quality program trends, issues, and opportunities.

Qualifications of the Quality Control Director:

  • Implement and oversee the Quality Control Program at the facility based on established policies and procedures.
  • Establish quality control specifications for finished products, in-process testing, and ingredients, and ensure compliance with these specifications.
  • Set quality specifications for incoming raw materials in collaboration with Purchasing, and monitor the adherence to these specifications.
  • Recruit, lead, and supervise a team of QA personnel.
  • Manage the laboratory budget and identify cost-reduction and margin improvement opportunities.
  • Research and analyze customer complaints in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with operations in establishing and supervising product and process development and test runs, and report the results.
  • Manage inventory of off-spec materials and schedule and oversee product reworking as necessary.
  • Conduct internal, vendor, and contract manufacturing audits when required.
  • Maintain and improve quality assurance lab data system reports.
  • Ensure compliance with company, state, federal, and international safety and regulatory policies and practices.
  • Coordinate pest control services.

Responsibilities of the Quality Control Director:

  • 10+ years of management experience in manufacturing QA
  • Previous experience in the dairy industry and familiarity with PMO (Pasteurized Milk Ordinance) required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory testing procedures and computer software applications
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or management role
