Quality Product Assurance Engineer (PCBA)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure the quality of printed circuit board assemblies by understanding the manufacturing process of PCBA
  • Possess and maintain current certification in IPC-A-610
  • Conduct First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) following AS9102 standards
  • Have a basic understanding of RF electronics and digital circuits
  • Familiarity with EEE components, including through-hole and surface mount packages
  • Perform visual inspection of solder joints, examining defects using magnification
  • Follow ESD protocols and effectively use electronic test equipment
  • Conduct incoming inspections to ensure proper traceability of parts and materials
  • Review supplier sampling inspection reports
  • Investigate nonconforming materials and document defects by generating NCRs
  • Lead Material Review Boards (MRB), identify root causes, and drive corrective actions
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections of hardware based on build work instructions
  • Verify in-process and final test results according to test procedures
  • Ensure the completeness of build and test documentation and generate Certificates of Conformance (CoCs)
  • Scan and archive all relevant records and objective evidence
  • Maintain clear communication with internal peers, suppliers, and customers

Additional Responsibilities

  • Execute tasks and assignments to ensure implementation of AS9100 QMS
  • Update procedures, work instructions, and forms to drive process improvements

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has the potential to develop into a supervisory role

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. The employee will use standard office equipment such as laptop computers and photocopiers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may need to lift files, open filing cabinets, and perform tasks that require bending or standing on a stool. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week. Typical office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, although hours may vary based on workload and manager's discretion. This job may require additional hours as needed.

Travel

Occasional local supplier visits and minimal domestic travel may be required.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant engineering field
  • At least 5 years of experience in Quality and Product Assurance

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Experience working with AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) processes
  • Knowledge of IPC structure for PCB, PCBA, and cable harness
  • Ability to follow electrical schematics and conduct electronics troubleshooting
  • Basic understanding of software, scripts, and programming languages
  • Familiarity with J-STD-001 soldering standard
  • Experience using multimeters, network analyzers, signal generators, and power meters
  • Understanding of mechanical drawings, machined parts, and GD&T
  • Knowledge of various industry standards and specifications
  • Familiarity with NADCAP certification related to special processes
