RADIATION THERAPIST
MEDICAL DOSIMETRIST
Fremont, CA
Reporting to the Director and Lead Therapist, the Medical Dosimetrist will be responsible for operating radiation therapy equipment, setting up and treating patients according to physician prescription, maintaining patient treatment records, providing patient instruction, practicing radiation safety principles, practicing sterile technique, and maintaining a clean work area. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Operating CT/SIM and treatment equipment, including linear accelerators and high dose rate after loading machine
- Performing morning check and warm-up of CT/SIM and/or accelerators
- Treating patients with prescribed mode, energy, dose, and monitor units/treatment time
- Performing patient set-ups according to physician prescription and department policies and procedures
- Participating in a team approach to giving radiation treatments
- Maintaining treatment records, scheduling patient treatments, and providing patient instructions
- Creating patient set-up devices, immobilization devices, and radiation field-shaping blocks
- Preparing patient treatment charts
- Exhibiting professional behavior and adhering to infection control practices
- Maintaining good verbal and written communication skills and collaborating with staff members
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Current CRT/ARRT Certificate
- Graduate from an Accredited Radiation Therapy Program
License, Certification, Registration:
- Certified Radiologic Technologist - Therapeutic Radiologic Technology Certificate (California) OR Radiologic Technologist Certification
- Basic Life Support
- California Fluoroscopy license (required in areas where fluoroscopy is performed by the therapist for patient diagnosing)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using record and verify systems and multi-leaf collimators
- One (1) year recent and relevant experience in patient treatment using various radiation therapy equipment
- Radiation experience (open to considering new grads)
MUST HAVE:
1. California Certified Radiologic Technologist - Therapeutic Radiologic Technology Certificate
2. Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association
3. Excellent patient care skills
