Our esteemed client is a renowned real estate development company specializing in commercial real estate transactions, land use approvals, and zoning variances. They collaborate closely with municipalities, investors, and legal experts to bring projects from conception to fruition. We are currently seeking an experienced Commercial Real Estate Attorney to manage property acquisitions, lease negotiations, municipal approvals, entitlements, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee commercial real estate transactions, which includes drafting and negotiating purchase agreements, leases, financing documents, and closing documents.
  • Handle land use and zoning approvals, such as variances, site plan approvals, and municipal permits.
  • Represent the company in front of zoning boards, planning commissions, and other governmental agencies.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence on real estate transactions, including title reviews, environmental assessments, and zoning compliance verifications.
  • Provide guidance on regulatory compliance, ensuring alignment with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel on land use disputes, zoning appeals, and real estate litigation.

Requirements

  • Hold a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in NJ and be in good standing with the bar (NY license is a bonus).
  • Possess a minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial real estate law, land use, or zoning.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record in securing zoning approvals, variances, and entitlements.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in real estate transactions.
  • Experience working with developers, municipal agencies, and real estate professionals.
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance, easements, and title issues is an advantage.
