POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Trainee Regional Distribution Manager

OVERVIEW:

The Trainee Regional Distribution Manager is accountable for leading multiple distribution centers

within a designated regional area. This role encompasses a hands-on leadership style, as well as

ensuring the implementation of suitable processes and technology to drive consistent and efficient

outcomes. Success in this position relies on recruiting, training, accountability, and staff development.

A successful candidate will have a proven track record of cultivating a culture of safety, efficiency,

on-time/in-full delivery, and continuous improvement within their area of responsibility.

Trainee Regional Managers will initially gain a comprehensive understanding of the company’s

operations by either assisting or overseeing an individual Distribution Center as part of their own

professional development journey.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

While undergoing training as a Regional Manager, the following responsibilities at the individual

Distribution Center are required and will expand as the candidate progresses within the organization:

• Assume full accountability for the profit and loss results of each Distribution Center in the

assigned region

• Ensure effective recruitment of team members for each Distribution Center using appropriate

workforce planning strategies

• Implement standardized and successful training and development programs to improve and

expand talent across Distribution Centers

• Regularly engage front line associates to grasp existing opportunities and foster a culture of

continuous improvement

• Streamline operational processes, conducting regular audits to ensure consistent execution

• Troubleshoot prevailing technical systems and resolve any identified root causes

• Monitor performance metrics and provide guidance to Distribution Centers on the appropriate

course of action to achieve improved outcomes

• Maintain a safe work environment at each Distribution Center

• Review weekly labor plan and detailed metrics to hold Distribution Center leadership

accountable

• Strive to exceed expectations by ensuring on-time/in-full delivery

• Optimize outbound truck weights

• Uphold high levels of inventory accuracy and minimize shrink

• Travel may be required, up to 50-75% of the time

MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is

mandatory.

• A minimum of 5 years' experience directly managing a company-owned distribution center.

• A proven track record in:

o Leading and developing teams that consistently excel

o Establishing streamlined processes that yield outstanding business results

o Cultivating a culture of continuous improvement

Experience in food/grocery distribution is preferred.
