Registered Nurse Supervisor – Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Group Homes

Compensation: Competitive and based on experience.

Our organization supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) of all ages, helping them reach their full potential and live meaningful lives. We do this through our Group Homes / Intermediate Care Facilities, offering lifelong support to individuals with IDD.

We are currently hiring a Registered Nurse Supervisor for our residential program. The ideal candidate will have experience in the ID/IDD field (although we provide training). This candidate will be responsible for overseeing and training direct care staff in the monitoring of medical systems. Additionally, the nurse will participate in team meetings and provide medically-related training to program staff.

Key/Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Support individuals with disabilities in a group home environment
  • Provide clinical supervision to nurses in the region
  • Organize and conduct clinical training sessions
  • Serve as a resource to department members and agency staff
  • Supervise and direct nursing staff within the region
  • Assist with clinical coverage and other nursing department operations as needed
  • Lead new nurses' orientation, training, and supervision


As a Nursing Supervisor, you will provide leadership and oversight to Licensed Practical Nurses, ensuring proper follow-up on clients' nursing and medical needs to promote their health and well-being. You will also provide staff training and monitor compliance.


  • Supervise Licensed Practical Nurses in their duties
  • Maintain communication with the Health Service Director
  • Be available on-call for nursing assistance
  • Review medication administration process for quality and continuity
  • Check documentation of scheduled and controlled substances
  • Audit drug and pharmaceutical stock for proper administration
  • Verify and implement physician orders correctly
  • Maintain regular communication with nursing staff for client care
  • Review nursing assessments and provide necessary follow-up
  • Supervise nurses in providing necessary follow-up care as defined in individual service plans
  • Establish and maintain an organized tracking system for assessments and follow-up procedures
  • Review electronic documentation to ensure thorough and timely resolution of client issues
  • Participate in admission/discharge reviews as assigned by the Health Services Director
  • Work collaboratively with other personnel and contracted individuals
  • Review and sign monthly, quarterly, and annual assessments
  • Act as Health Service Director in their absence
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed


Education & Experience:

  • Must have a valid Registered Nurse license issued by the State Board of Nursing
  • Must possess a driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Previous experience working with disabled adults is desirable
  • Supervision experience is preferred
  • Experience with intellectually and developmentally disabled population is a plus
  • Experience in Med/Surg, nursing homes, rehabs, or chronic/geriatric care is desired
