Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist will measure lung capacity and analyze blood samples using a blood gas analyzer. They may also be responsible for providing tobacco cessation education, conducting bedside pulmonary function tests, performing EKGs, and other related tasks as ordered by healthcare providers. Additionally, they will administer prescribed therapies, monitor patient condition, record observations, and communicate the patient's status as necessary. The Respiratory Therapist will evaluate respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices. They will also be expected to respond to emergency codes and calls for immediate assistance, assess patient condition, and deliver appropriate treatments. Patient and family education about the patient's illness, as well as information about community support groups and resources, will also be part of the role. The Respiratory Therapist will be responsible for monitoring, receiving, stocking, and distributing respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders. Additionally, they will ensure proper storage levels of supplies and equipment, as well as performing maintenance, cleaning, sterilization, and calibration of equipment.
Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care License. Graduation from a CRT or RRT Program is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire, along with Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within the same timeframe. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must also be obtained within 60 days of hire, with Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification required within 90 days of hire. Candidates must comply with the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care regulations.

The facility is an 80-bed acute care hospital. The available positions are for the night shift, from 7pm to 7am, and will require weekend rotation. The salary range is $24 to $36 per hour, depending on experience. The facility also offers an excellent benefits package and may provide a relocation or sign-on bonus.
