Retail Financial Planning Analyst

Our client in Austin, TX is currently seeking a Retail Financial Planning Analyst to join their team on a direct hire basis.

About the Role:

As a Retail Financial Planning Analyst, you will play a vital role within the Marketing and Merchandising Category team. This position entails advanced data analytics and visualization, as well as maintaining crucial business reports. You will support various projects within Category Management, specializing in a specific category.

  • Analyze and interpret consumer and sales insights, utilizing available resources to identify marketing opportunities and consumer trends.
  • Research and analyze data and other category-related information to support business decisions by identifying trends, category performance, competitive threats, and opportunities.
  • Create regular and ad hoc reports, such as out-of-stock items, opportunity gaps, SKU rationalization, promotion analysis, financial performance, sales, and movement.
  • Provide accurate and pertinent information to internal business management in order to enhance decision-making.
  • Collaborate with internal business teams to offer analysis and insights that support key business decisions.
  • Manage projects, including developing project plans, processes, and timelines.
  • Utilize analytical insights to develop actionable improvement strategies.
  • Conduct field analysis and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Design, manage, and execute customized reports for category managers, directors, and executives.
  • Liaise with IT to ensure data requirements are met and enhance understanding of data flow and accessibility within our enterprise system.
  • Determine market needs and gaps and contribute to the creation of a strategy that captures new growth in assigned areas.
  • Perform other assigned duties as required.


To qualify for this role, you must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in data analysis and/or financial analysis, including working with large-scale data and customer segmentation analysis.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Additionally, the following skills and qualifications are preferred:
  • Negotiation skills and understanding of "How to" and "Results of."
  • Experience with Data Visualization tools like Tableau, MicroStrategy, or Spotfire.
  • Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Pricing and SKU management experience is a plus.
  • Ability to develop solution-based analytics and reports.
  • Proficiency in project planning, including defining scope and timelines.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to acquire and interpret data.
