RN CHARGE NURSE – SURGICAL INTENSIVE CARE
Charge Nurse - Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)
Location: Mission Viejo, CA
Salary: $145,000-192,000 annually + Benefits, Bonus, and Shift Differential
We are seeking a Charge Nurse to join our team in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at our facility in Mission Viejo, California. As a Charge Nurse, you will work under the guidance of the nurse manager to provide excellent patient care and oversee unit activities and personnel. You will play a crucial role in maintaining high-quality care standards and ensuring the efficient operation of the unit. This position requires adherence to the ANA Nursing Administration: Scope and Standards of Practice.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning, organizing, and coordinating department activities on a shift for optimal patient care
- Ensuring high-quality patient care and cost-effective service
- Collaborating with the healthcare team to determine appropriate standards of care and initiate care plans
- Assessing patients' physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs and documenting them in the clinical record
- Coordinating patient care activities and communicating with other members of the healthcare team
- Carrying out physicians' orders accurately and efficiently
- Promptly recognizing and reporting any adverse or sudden changes in patients' conditions to the appropriate healthcare professionals
- Providing patient/family health education and support
- Administering blood and blood products, monitoring patients for transfusion reactions, and taking appropriate measures when necessary
- Ensuring the safe and efficient utilization of patient care equipment
- Promoting and following standard precautions and principles of infection control
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Current California Registered Nurse License
- National Provider BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Prior experience as a Charge Nurse or Relief Charge Nurse
- At least 2 years of recent clinical experience in a specialty area
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in nursing
- Leadership experience
The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of recent experience as an RN in an acute care unit in an accredited hospital. This is a full-time position for day shift.
