Education Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing (RN) program
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
Role and Responsibilities:
The Clinical Educator, under the guidance of the department manager, will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive program for staff orientation and continuing education to ensure professional excellence and regulatory compliance across the organization. This role will collaborate with the department manager to deliver standardized and effective education throughout the organization, serving as the primary contact for staff orientation.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate and oversee orientation for new field- and office-based staff
- Support the development of continuing education programs for clinical and paraprofessional staff
- Continuously evaluate program effectiveness and relevance
- Participate in the development and delivery of classes and in-person or online training sessions
- Organize and facilitate clinical competency testing
- Assist in program coordination
- Perform co-visits with field staff as necessary
- Track staff requirements for in-service training
- Provide or facilitate training in various formats to meet the needs of field staff
- Collaborate with LHCSA management to coordinate home health aide education
- Assist with evaluating and organizing similar programs at branch offices
- Create training materials using different methods, techniques, and formats
- Organize and maintain up-to-date educational materials
- Provide remedial training as directed by managerial staff
- Standardize patient educational materials
- Perform other assigned duties
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Current, valid RN license issued by the New York State Department of Education
- Minimum of one year of experience in homecare
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent customer service skills
- Knowledge of State and Federal Regulations and Medicare/Medicaid Guidelines for home care
- Preferred knowledge in theories of teaching and principles of adult education
- Ability and desire to serve as a role model
- High level of OASIS knowledge and competence; Certification for OASIS Specialist-Clinical (COS-C) is a plus
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to travel to branch locations as needed
