The Orthopedic Registered Nurse assumes the role of leading the team responsible for the care of orthopedic patients. They assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care with a focus on patient outcomes. The nurse addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient while collaborating with physicians, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.

Create and implement care plans based on established standards of care. Communicate these plans to patients and other members of the healthcare team.

Provide age-appropriate care and patient/family education to promote wellness and involvement in decision-making.

Assess, reassess, evaluate, and document patient responses to interventions and progress toward desired outcomes.

Coordinate patient care activities through effective collaboration with the healthcare team.

Accurately and efficiently carry out physician orders, seeking clarification when needed.

Promptly report any adverse or sudden changes in patient condition to appropriate healthcare professionals.

Recognize and report adverse drug reactions as needed.

Assess and manage patient pain effectively.

Administer blood and blood products, monitoring patients for transfusion reactions and taking appropriate action.

Follow hospital policies and procedures for safe and efficient utilization of patient care equipment.

Adhere to standard precautions and principles of infection control in patient care.

Achieve performance goals set for the position.
Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited nursing program

Valid California Registered Nurse License

BLS Certification - American Heart Association

ACLS Certification - American Heart Association

Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
Ideal Candidate:

At least 1 year of recent experience in the Orthopedics department of an accredited hospital.

Availability for day shift and full-time employment.

Valid California Registered Nurse License
