The Highway Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the construction and maintenance of highways in Charlotte, NC. This role involves managing a team of foremen, subcontractors, and equipment to ensure that production goals are met and safety standards are maintained. The Highway Supervisor will also work closely with project management to supervise superintendents, foremen, and employees.

• Candidates should have at least 5-10+ years of recent experience in heavy highway and road construction.

• Responsibilities of the Highway Supervisor include creating plans and reports to update schedules, developing work plans and 2-week schedule look-aheads, setting and achieving production goals, and communicating plans, safety, and schedules at weekly meetings.
• The Highway Supervisor should have a thorough understanding of plans and specifications, as well as the ability to teach and train others.
• Continuous improvement is a key aspect of this role, with the Highway Supervisor expected to consistently analyze operations and methods to identify more efficient and safer ways to perform tasks.
• Building and maintaining effective relationships with owners, clients, managers, and other employees is also important for success in this position.
• The Highway Supervisor should have good housekeeping practices and ensure a clean work area, truck, and trailer.
• It is necessary to understand daily cost, monthly cost reports, and projections.

Job Requirements:

• Applicants should have at least 5+ years of recent experience in heavy highway and road construction, with experience on projects valued at $5 million or more.
• A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent verbal and written communication, are necessary for effective collaboration.
• The Highway Supervisor should be able to think independently and solve problems effectively. OSHA Competent Person certification is required.
• A clean driving record is also a requirement for this position.
