Job Title: Automated Welding Technician

Location: Waterloo, Iowa

Salary: $55-75K annually with bonus

Job Summary for the Automated Welding Technician: The Automated Welding Technician is responsible for operating and programming automated welding machines. This role involves maximizing the efficiency of welding robots, programming them, and resolving any equipment failures or breakdowns. The successful candidate will possess a continuous improvement mindset and be able to suggest process and technical enhancements. They must also stay updated with industry developments and changes.

Job Responsibilities for the Automated Welding Technician:

· Develop and improve welding programs based on engineering drawings, specifications, and production requirements.

· Utilize programming languages like G-code or specialized robotic programming languages to create precise welding paths.

· Collaborate with engineering teams to understand project requirements and adjust robotic programs accordingly.

· Set up and calibrate automated welding systems, ensuring proper alignment and functioning.

· Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of automated welding equipment for optimal performance.

· Collaborate with maintenance teams to promptly address any technical issues or malfunctions.

· Monitor and inspect welded components for quality adherence to standards and specifications.

· Implement quality control processes and adjust robotic programs to maintain consistent weld quality.

· Identify and rectify any defects or inconsistencies in the welding process.

· Ensure compliance with safety protocols and guidelines for automated welding operations.

· Maintain accurate records of welding programs, adjustments, and maintenance activities.

· Generate reports on production output, efficiency, and encountered welding issues.

Education & Experience for the Automated Welding Technician:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical certification or degree in welding technology or related field is a plus.
  • Prior experience in troubleshooting robotic/welding equipment.
  • Prior experience in programming welding and robotic welding processes.
  • Prior experience in inspecting and sampling incoming parts and raw materials.
  • Proficiency in written, verbal, presentation, and communication skills.
