We are seeking a skilled Safety Manager to oversee the safety program at a large power generation facility in New York City. The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for managing and coordinating all safety programs and processes at the plant, ensuring compliance with regulations, policies, and goals for improvement.

Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):

• Lead compliance reviews, risk assessments, and other safety assessments to support environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) management.
• Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Provide assistance, advice, and recommendations on safety issues to plant management.
• Assist in the development and delivery of relevant safety training.
• Ensure adherence to safety regulations, use of required safety equipment, and promotion of safe work practices.
• Maintain positive relationships with managers, union employees, and regulatory agencies.

Plant Specific Responsibilities (but not limited to):

• Regularly walk the operating areas to establish a presence and provide support for EH&S initiatives.
• Conduct safety meetings/trainings on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis as needed.
• Develop and manage safety programs, policies, and procedures.
• Perform safety inspections throughout the plant.
• Evaluate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure proper use and maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company EH&S policies.
• Assist in emergency response and provide first aid treatment.
• Aid in the development of job hazard analysis (JHA).
• Administer and maintain compliance programs such as LOTO, hazard communication, hearing conservation, hot work, etc.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• BS degree
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an environmental, health, and safety position in a manufacturing, construction, or utility environment
• Experience working in a unionized environment
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
