Construction Safety Supervisor – Columbia, South Carolina

The Construction Safety Supervisor is responsible for assessing and improving work environments to prevent workplace injuries and diseases. This includes maintaining and updating safety manuals and policies and ensuring compliance with company regulations, OSHA, and MSHA.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage safety and health programs that comply with regulations
  • Implement measures to enhance worker safety
  • Inspect workplaces for safety compliance
  • Suspend activities that pose threats to workers' health or safety
  • Investigate accidents and near misses
  • Conduct safety training programs and maintain records
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety laws and regulations
  • Collaborate with project managers to address hazardous conditions
  • Provide new-employee health and safety orientations
  • Coordinate "right-to-know" programs on hazardous chemicals
  • Maintain and update emergency response plans
  • Inspect fire prevention equipment and first aid supplies
  • Ensure OSHA and MSHA compliance on projects

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Maintain expense reports and credit card receipts
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor
  • Maintain company vehicle



Proficient knowledge in the following areas:

- Equipment safety

- MSHA and OSHA regulations

- Site specific hazards and conditions

- Operation and maintenance of heavy equipment

- Road construction and maintenance techniques

- Workplace safety requirements and procedures

- Trench safety, fall protection, and confined space regulations

- Safety certifications

- Heavy civil engineering field
